Mentoring with a Plan
You're a successful executive or entrepreneur.  You're likely now consulting.  Perhaps you're semi-retired. You've earned the right to be the master of your time.  You want to share your wisdom and experience with younger or less-experienced founders and business owners.  Excellent!  Now what?

You talk to colleagues, network online, participate in business groups and meetings, go to networking events, and meet at your church or temple.  You find a protégé.  Your informal mentoring may go well.  Or it may not. 

Mentoring often is haphazard, messy, and unsatisfying.
