The Spotlight is essentially a condensed version of your presentation or your Executive Summary that highlights your strong points. It provides an overview, touches on what makes you unique, and can cover your market, product, technology, and management.

Spotlight format requirements:

  • It should be easy to read, use bullet or numbered points, and include contact info.
  • It must be less than 500 total words
  • At this time our newsletters are straight text. You must use capital letters to highlight sections and spaces for indentation as below. Do not use HTML, Word, or other formatting. This includes but is not limited to graphics, fonts, styles (bold, italic, etc.), bullet characters (use regular text characters), paragraphs, tabs, indents, borders, boxes, shading, or tables.

MICRO FOUNDRY INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHTS
The medical diagnostic and point of care markets are changing with the development of microfluidics, a micro-machined technology enabling automation and miniaturization of laboratory functions into portable fluid processors. Many diagnostic functions, including blood analysis, AIDS detection, and gene research can now be done on a lab the size of a dime.

These new processors require the adoption of unique and innovative micro-machine technologies in order to support industry growth. However, there are many barriers companies face in order to obtain this technology including the lack of specifically designed equipment to manufacture microfluidics, limited availability of small volume rapid prototype services, and inflexible manufacturing technologies.

This diagnostic market as of 2007 is a $34 billion dollar market with expected growth of 4% - 5% per year with the point of care diagnostics leading the way. (Source: Yole Development)
